Description: Utopian planned town, 17 restored original buildings and
visitor center. Interpreters in many buildings
Most of the buildings were raised by the Harmony Society, led
by Father Rapp. They sold the property and moved to Economy
PA. A socialist group led by Robert Owen then moved to
the town.

| What kind of visit you can have:
You have to start at the Atheneum Visitors Center, a
spectacular modern building on the banks of the
Wabash. This is where tickets are available for
various tours, and where a movie ends with the wall
opening to reveal the river. The buildings are
scattered throughout this small town. If you like
quiet, peaceful surroundings, plan to spend at least a
night. |
