Fort Parker Historical Park

Description: Reconstructed fort begun in
1833. Site of a Comanche attack in 1836 in which a nine
year old girl was captured. The small town that grew up
around the site was abandoned when it was bypassed by the
railroad in 1870.

| What kind of visit you can have:
This fort has been reconstructed twice, in 1936 and
1967. Tour the grounds and wander through the dirt
floor buildings inside the stockade. The fort
lookout tower and various gun slits are available to see
over the stockade walls. |
