| What kind of visit you can have:
This site contains the remains of a large sugar
plantation which operated from 1832 until well into the
20th century, at its height from 1893-1926. Most
of the 60 remaining buildings are vacant, but several
have been restored including the store, school, and five
19th century dwellings. Other buildings still line
the street, antique farm equipment is on display,
and the remains of the refinery and other buildings can
be seen. |
