Museum of Mining and Hell Roarin' Gulch

Description: The
100-foot headframe of the 125-year-old Orphan Girl Mine is
the
centerpiece of this site, which contains other original
mining equipment, a
new underground exhibit, locomotives, and a re-created
1890's mining camp
with 50 buildings filled with thousands of antiques from the
period. Many
new educational programs are in place, including day-long
geology and
mining history trips led by a geologist, summer lecture
series, guided
trail walks, and more.

What kind of visit you can have:
Explore the buildings of Hell
Roarin' Gulch and peek into the 60 major
exhibits in the outdoor mine yard. Visit the original
mine hoist house with its huge engine and many other
displays, or check out the nuts and bolts of mining in
the Hard Rock Exhibit. Plan to visit on one of our
Special Event Days, or come for one of three day-long
regional guided trips scheduled on 18 dates through the
summer.
