Description: Site of the first Moravian
settlement in North Carolina. Several buildings and a
palisade fort are located on the grounds of the 175 acre
wildlife preserve, as well as colonial and medicinal gardens
and nature trails to archaeological ruins. Costumed
guides give tours and the visitor center offers an introductory
video. Wildlife abounds.

Several ways to explore this 175 acre site. There
is a reconstructed Moravian frontier village, an active
archaeological site, a reconstructed community garden of
1759, a medicinal garden of 1761, a visitor
center/museum with video, and a French and Indian era
fort. There is an active living history program
