Description: Stone fort at the foot of Lake
Champlain built in 1755, Fort Carillon (as the French builders
named it) was the focus of military activity in the area in
both the French and Indian War and the American
Revolution. During the day tour guides and staff in
period costume are available and musket or artillery
demonstrations take place regularly. A Fife and Drum
Corps performs daily in July and August. There are four
gardens, military earthworks, farmland, an orchard & forests
on 2000 acres.

| What kind of visit you can have:
The approach to the fort is along the same wooded
battlefield where the battle of Carillon was fought in
the French and Indian War, with earthworks
visible. The stone fort is entered through a stone
passageway. Costumed guides give period demonstrations
throughout the day. Exhibits are on display in buildings
inside the fort walls. |
