Description: In addition to the Visitor Center which
features LBJ boyhood memorabilia, there is an attached 1870's
dogtrot cabin, an 1840s log cabin just west of the center, and
the Sauer-Beckman living history farm of the 1900-1918 era
with costumed interpreters doing daily and seasonal
activities. Tram tours of the National Park Service-run
LBJ Ranch leave from the State Park Visitor Center.

What kind of visit you can have:
there are several areas and various tours available
through this multi-purpose park. The Visitor Center
holds a collection of LBJ memorabilia, and an attached
two-room dogtrot cabin from the 1870s and an 1840 log
cabin sits just west. East of the center, off the
nature trail, is the Sauer- Beckman farm, where costumed
interpreters live a lifestyle typical of farm families in
the 1900-1918 period. Housekeeping and farming
activities take place daily. Tours of these
facilities last about an hour. There are also tram
tours of the LBJ Ranch (which is run by the National Park
Service) on a first come first served basis (from 10 to
4), and tours of the wildlife management area. |
